About This Page and Me
This is a page where I write movie reviews about any new movie I see in theaters etc for my own amusement and to reflect on a large portion of my life that I spend not doing anything productive. I will only post reviews for new movies (a year old or newer) because no one really wants to read what I have to say about Tron or It Happened One Night (Nor do I particularly want to write about it). However, if I feel especially touched or moved by an older film, I will review it here just for kicks. All reviews are on a [Bomb (1star)] – 4 star scale, with 4 stars being a down-right masterpiece of cinema. I almost never award a 4 star rating because I want it to have a real value, so you know when you see one that it’s truly special.
Feel free to comment, argue, discuss, question, request a review etc!
Who am I?
I am currently a student at the University of California Berkeley, where I intend to major in Molecular Cell Biology. I am originally from Sacramento, CA, and hope that I don’t have to live there in the future (no offense, Sacramento). I enjoy music of all kinds, and am also in a garage band that meets on weekends. My favorite book is Richard Preston’s the Hots Zone and Richard Feynman’s Surely You’re Joking Mr. Feynman.
I’m constantly analyzing movies as I watch them, dissecting their production but still assessing every movie as a holistic cinema experience. Good films are ones that successfully manipulate the viewer into becoming a part of what’s on screen without appearing manipulative, and harnessing their emotions to convey or portray an artistic experience.
Anyway, these are not professional, they’re just something I do with my time to reflect on something I love, and I hope in doing so I can better educate other people about the glories of cinema…
Well, have fun reading these and such.
